Dogs at Martock Recreation Ground

Dog walking on the recreation ground at Stoke Road.

It has come to the attention of Martock Parish Council that dog fouling on the recreation ground at Stoke Road has increased and is becoming a problem to all users and in particular to those that use the sports pitches, even though notices are placed requesting dog owners to keep their dogs off the sports pitches. Before matches and training all involved ‘have to walk the pitch’ before each match to clear up dog mess.
The recreation ground is a public facility for all to use and enjoy.  Whilst Martock Parish Council would like to see dog walkers and their dogs continue to use this facility, it may mean that unless all dog owners become responsible for clearing up the dog mess and using the bins provided, Martock Parish Council may be forced to review the use of the recreation ground for dog walking.
Martock Parish Council would also like to remind dog owners that Dog Wardens do visit the recreation ground and an owner allowing their dog to foul the area could receive a fine of up to £1000.
