The Bath Gilbert & Sullivan Society, founded 75 years ago, are returning to Martock after performing "Trial by Jury" here in 2017 before an enthusiastic 263-strong audience. Pirates of Penzance was premiered in New York on 31st December 1879 and ran for over 3 months, whilst the British premier in 1880 ran for 363 performances. It has been one of the most popular of Gilbert and Sullivan's 14 comic operas ever since, with "I am the very model of a modern Major General" being the best known of 27 excellent melodies. This fully-costumed concert performance will end shortly before 10pm. Tickets are £12 on the door or £10 if ordered in advance by phoning 01935 829576 or purchased from Martock News and Martock Gallery. Accompanied children under 16 will be admitted free. Ample parking at The George, opposite the church & at the nearby Martock Surgery.

Wine and soft drinks will be available before the concert and in the interval. Disabled access and toilet facilities available. The post code is TA21 6JL.


Our beautiful Grade I Listed church is the second largest Parish Church in Somerset and all proceeds from The Guardians' events go towards the maintenance and enhancement of the church building. This will be our 130th concert since January 2002 and attendances exceed 18,000 people.
